European Retail Solutions Awards 06 Finalist

Virgin Megastores in association with Eqos short-listed for European Retail Solutions Award 2006

28 April 2006

Eqos has been short-listed for a European Retail Solutions Award 2006.  The company is nominated in the 'Supply Chain Excellence Award' category for its work with Virgin Megastores installing OTIS - Online Trading Information System, a web-based solution for contract and deal management.

The European Retail Solutions Awards, in association with Fujitsu, will once again be celebrating the best in retail technology applications from across Europe retailing.   This year's awards promises to be even more spectacular than last year, with the some of Europe's best-known retailers recognized and rewarded at this glittering gala evening. The judging panel looked for intuitive projects within the supply chain that have had a significant impact on an organization's performance and profitability.

Retailing doesn't get much more dynamic than the music industry.  Rap, hip-hop, rock - or maybe the latest young and nubile classical violinist - whatever the genre, Virgin Megastores' buyers have to pick the winners, negotiate with producers and put the best promotional deal on the shelves.  A more structured collaborative platform was essential.  Virgin needed to build a formalized deal and terms management application that could be used by both its buying teams and all suppliers no matter what their size.  The aim was to develop applications that could track the progress and timetable of deals and avoid problems with invoice matching - a major preoccupation for both its suppliers' and Virgin's own accounts department."

Tony Johnson, IT Director, Virgin Retail commented, "The user interface is so simple and intuitive that it has led to a rapid and successful adoption by both the Virgin buying team and our suppliers' sales team.  In an industry that is not known for its collaborative approach, we can already see tangible benefits being delivered to both ourselves and our supplier base."

Mike Quinn, CEO, Eqos commented, "It is always rewarding to see the benefits and mind-shift that we can produce within a client's business, and being a finalist for this Award is an added bonus."

The awards will be held on the opening night of the Retail Solutions conference and exhibition, 6th June at the Birmingham Metropole Hotel.
