Virgin Megastores is short-listed for two major retail awards
Dec 14th, 2006 - Virgin Megastores has been short-listed for two major retail awards for the Online Trading Information System it co-developed with Eqos. The effort has resulted in the deployment of a web-based solution for contract and deal management which is estimated to save the company in excess of one million pounds within the first year.
The World Retail Awards and the Retail Week Awards both feature Virgin in their shortlists. Judges for both of these awards include some of the world's top retailers and thought-leaders from prestigious academic institutions, as well as industry specialists.
Virgin's Online Trading Information System enables buyers to negotiate with manufacturers and distributors to put the best promotional deal on the shelves. This solution manages and formalizes deals and terms for its buying teams and all suppliers, irrespective of size. The Eqos solution tracks the progress and timetable of deals and eliminates invoice matching problems - a major preoccupation for both its suppliers' and Virgin's own accounts department.
The Retail Week Awards, now in their 12th year, have grown to become an important and eagerly awaited event in the retail calendar. To win a Retail Week Award is a prestigious and highly valued accolade. Winners of the Retail Week Awards will be announced at a gala dinner in London on 1 March 2007, which coincides with the annual Retail Week Conference.
The World Retail Awards enable leading retailers to compete on a global basis and be rewarded for their outstanding economic, ethical and creative achievements. The award ceremony will take place on 29 March 2007 in Barcelona during the inaugural World Retail Congress.
