Eqos short listed for Computer Weekly eBusiness Award
24 October 2001
For the second year running, Eqos, the Supplier Relationship Management solutions provider, has been named a finalist in the supply chain management and procurement category of Computer Weekly's E-Business Excellence Awards 2001. Last year, Eqos won this award for its ground-breaking work with J Sainsbury and the company is hoping to repeat its success when the winners are announced at the Awards presentation in London on November 27.
Eqos has been recognized this time for its work with AAH, the pharmaceutical distributor, for whom it has revolutionized the speed and efficiency of its stock processes with a collaborative planning system to increase visibility of products throughout the supply chain. Earlier this month, the Eqos/AAH project was named a finalist in the "Computing" Awards.
"For AAH, the Eqos solution has created in effect a new, collaborative, on line company and transformed communications," says Mike Quinn, president and co founder, Eqos. "Previously AAH was using a slow paper-based process, creating spreadsheets on a monthly basis to try and pinpoints problems, but once published, this information was immediately out of date. Now they are working within a responsive web-based solution and have adopted a collaborative working environment within which accurate and timely information can be shared with both suppliers and customers. This has overcome many of its previous problems."
Using its Collaborator Internet-based technology platform, Eqos worked with AAH to create and host a solution which holds centrally all the information AAH needs to get a constant picture of its supply chain. There's also a shared on-line area that suppliers can consult.
According to Steve Dunn, managing director AAH, the Eqos solution has "transformed" communication and the company is no longer working in the dark. "Delays have been reduced and often if there is the potential for delay, we have been able to advise on alternative drugs. And in some cases, we've even found that what we thought was a major problem was actually just a matter of miscommunication."
The Eqos' Platform on which the AAH solution was delivered allows for comprehensive and sophisticated solutions to be customized to a company's exact or desired business process in just 8 to 12 weeks.
Other major awards won by Eqos' are the VICS 2000 Achievement Award for the best in retailer/supplier relationship, the Computer Weekly E-Business Excellence Award for supply chain management, the Microsoft European RAD awards for both supply chain management and the value chain initiative, and at the UK 2000 Technology Awards Eqos were runners up for the PricewaterhouseCoopers 'Hottest Prospect Award' and SBN 'Innovator of the Year'.
Among the other major companies using Eqos technology are Sainsbury, Kelloggs, Nestle, Kingfisher and hundreds of their suppliers.
