Eqos CEO chosen to speak to top retail fashion conference on best practice in global sourcing and supplier management

12th December 2005

Fashion buyers and merchandisers from the department store and multiple sectors were rewarded with a view of best practice in global sourcing and supplier management by Mike Quinn, chief executive officer of Eqos, at a conference in London organized by Drapers, the fashion business weekly.

Selected to present the case for using technology to help with margin management, Mike Quinn included in his talk examples from Eqos' customers Tesco and Debenhams. His presentation covered how sourcing and supplier management systems providing real-time information could help managers make better business decisions to support margin improvement, increase business flexibility and improve speed of product from concept to store.

The Tesco example demonstrated how Eqos technology would help the supermarket to cope with an anticipated doubling of globally sourced non-food sales over the next two years by streamlining activities, running processes in parallel, and establishing best practice across the organization's boundaries.

The audience was given an insight into some of the benefits enjoyed by Debenhams which uses Eqos to help them manage the critical stages of a new product launch, improve availability at store level and improve visibility of orders and logistics across the supply chain.

"We are delighted that Eqos, with its proven record of helping retailers and suppliers work more collaboratively, was able to participate in our masterclass," said Eric Musgrave, editorial director, Drapers, who chaired the conference. "Mike addressed key business issues using retail examples which is just what our audience wanted to hear."

Among the other presenters at the Margin Management in Fashion event were representatives of Moss Bros, Harrods, Marks & Spencer and River Island.
