Eqos launches global sourcing solution
16th August 2004
As more retailers are working with offshore suppliers to help expand their own-label ranges to gain competitive advantage and better margins, Eqos has launched a solution to help reduce the risk and streamline the processes of buying globally.
The Eqos sourcing solution comprises four modules which encompass the initial selection of the supplier, order placing, new product development and introduction, total cost management and quality and risk management.
"Most retailers now believe that buying on the global market is a distinct business advantage to reducing costs, improving margins, offering consumers better value for money and expanding their portfolio," says Mike Quinn, Chief Executive Officer, Eqos.
"While there are great prizes to be had by exploiting global and local sourcing options, there are also huge risks if retailers are not able to monitor and control the process of manufacturing and delivery. Getting it wrong could not just eradicate potential savings, but incur high costs."
Eqos' knowledge, expertise and proven technology has been incorporated into this new suite of solutions designed to automate the sourcing process, increase speed to market, and enable greater sourcing capacity, while keeping the administrative burden to a minimum.
A key element of the applications is the collation of all relevant data on potential vendors and their bids and the ease of comparison at the supplier selection stage. The applications provide visibility of products as they progress through the supply chain, from concept to delivery, with alerts and reports generated when things do not go according to plan to try and avoid problems before they arise.
